How to Replace the Light Switch in a Mobile Home

Replacing a light switch in a mobile home is the same as replacing a light switch in a traditional home. Instructions

    • 1

      Turn off the breaker that supplies power to the light switch. This is done from the main breaker box outside the home.

      Remove the screws on the front of the light switch plate. Remove the cover and set it aside.

      Take out the screws that are holding the switch inside the light switch box. Pull the switch a few inches away from the box.

      Use small pieces of tape to label the wires. This will help you remember how to properly connect each wire to its respective screw.

      Loosen the screws with a screwdriver. Use needle nose pliers to pull the wires away from the screws.

      Loosen the screws on the back of the new light switch and place the appropriate wires under them. Tighten the screws down onto the wires.

      Place the switch back inside the box and place the two screws in place and tighten them. Replace the switch plate and attach with screws.

      Turn the power to the switch back on an test it to make sure it is working.

    Actually, the mobile home light switch is different from a traditional home light switch. Fortunately, you can find mobile home switches online. Check multiple sources though for the best price. Shame on the author for not doing her homework.
