How to Become a Petco Pet Pals Partner

In addition to the 950 Petco stores, which operate in all 50 states, the Petco Foundation partners with more than 6,200 animal rescues and animal welfare organizations, providing financial support, donation of products and a venue for pet adoptions. There are two types of Petco partners--charitable partners and adoption partners. In order to be approved to receive support from the foundation or Petco as either type, your organization must first be a registered nonprofit organization. If you have your 501(c)(3) paperwork, becoming a Petco partner is a relatively simple process.

  1. Charitable Partner

      Go to the Petco Foundation website for applying for support (see reference).

      Click on the "Application for Support" under the "Partners" tab on the left side of the screen.

      Complete the online form to apply for support. You will need to have the official name and address for your organization, the name of the project for which you are applying for support, a description of the project, the amount of support your are requesting, your mission statement, a copy of your IRS W-9 form, and a copy of your 501(c)(3) tax determination letter.

    Adoption Partner

      Apply for and be approved as a Petco charitable partner.

      Download, print and complete the Petco adoption partner application and agreement on the Petco Foundation website (see reference).

      Schedule a meeting with the manager of your local Petco store. Turn in the adoption partner application and discuss your desire to do adoptions at the store. The store will send the application to the Petco Foundation and notify you once it has been approved. The store will then allow you to begin scheduling adoption events.

Tips & Warnings

  • Once you are approved as a Petco charitable partner, there are various types of support your organization can apply for and receive from the foundation, such as capital grants; product support; the "We Are Family, Too" support and the "4 Rs" project.
