How to Make a Cherry and Pear Martini

A cherry and pear martini is a simple variation on the classic vodka martini. Adding sweet fruit juice, this drink is lighter in taste and alcohol flavor, as it removes the vermouth found in both vodka and gin martinis. You can make cherry and pear martinis and serve them on the rocks, though this hardly counts as a martini anymore. Everyone but the strictest of martini purists will enjoy the delicious concoction, especially during a hot summer day. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Cocktail shaker with strainer
  • Crushed ice
  • 6 oz. vodka
  • 3 oz. cherry juice
  • 3 oz. pear nectar
  • ½ tsp. Rose's lime juice
  • Chilled martini glass
  • Maraschino cherries, for garnish

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a cocktail shaker three-quarters full with crushed ice. Add the vodka, cherry juice, pear nectar and Rose's lime juice.

    • 2

Cover the shaker with your hand or the supplied top and shake vigorously for 15 to 20 seconds. You do not have to worry about bruising a vodka martini. Only gin bruises, which causes the overwhelming flavor of juniper berries to be released.

    • 3

Transfer the cherry and pear martinis to two martini glasses. Garnish each glass with a maraschino cherry and serve immediately.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use this basic formula to make a variety of different fruit martinis, though you may need to remove the lime juice from some recipes as it may not taste good. For example, a blackberry martini will not taste good with Rose's lime juice included. If you do make a different type of drink and feel it needs more sugar, add simple syrup in place of Rose's lime juice.
