How to Create Pop-Up Cards
Creating your own pop-up cards is a great alternative to buying store-bought cards. You can make your own pop-up card designs or you can download predesigned templates, which makes it even easier to make them, and children can create pop-up cards as a craft projects at home, school, or daycare.
Things You'll Need
- Heavyweight card stock or construction paper
- Pencil
- Ink pen, crayons, or markers
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Ruler or straight edge

Fold one sheet of heavyweight card stock or construction paper in half for the base of the pop-up card.

On a second sheet of heavyweight card stock or construction paper, trace the pattern of the pop-up or draw your own design with a pencil. Add tabs to the sides of the design for attaching to the card base.

Use scissors to cut the design from the paper and color with crayons or markers.

Use a ruler or other straight edge to create a score line in the center of the design. Create additional score lines where the tabs meet the design.

Apply glue to the tabs and attach to the inside of the card base, matching the scored fold of the design with the fold of the card base. Allow glue to dry completely.

Fold the card and flatten using your fingertips or the heel of your hand to tighten the folds.

Write the message on the outside and inside of the card using an ink pen, crayons or markers.
