How to Easily Get Rid of Toe Nail Fungus

Toe nail fungus first manifests as a harmless white or yellow spot beneath the nail bed. As the fungus compounds, it can cause your nails to become painful and brittle. If you have a nail fungus always treat it quickly and take it seriously before it spreads to any other nails. Make an appointment to see your doctor as soon as you first discover brittle, discolored or thickened nails. Use these tips to prevent and treat the fungal invasion.

Instructions

1. 

   Keep your feet dry and clean. This will discourage the fungus from compounding and spreading to other nails. Try an epsom salt soak in warm water for 15-20 minutes. Aim to keep your toenails short and trimmed and do not use finger nail polishes to conceal infected nails. Thoroughly towel-dry feet and nails after every bath or foot soak.

   Use vinegar to naturally stop the growth of fungal infection. Studies show that vinegar contains agents which stop the growth of certain fungus. Measure out 1 part vinegar for every 2 parts water. You can also try using vinegar as an antiseptic wipe for your feet in between soaks.

   Utilize anti-fungal powders and sprays to easily get rid of toe nail fungus. Anti-fungal powders can reduce the fungus from redeveloping and should be used regularly if your feet heavily perspire throughout the day. Powders and sprays are also perfect for health club and gym use. Find one specifically labeled for athlete's feet.

4. 

   Talk with your doctor about prescription strength medications to treat foot fungus. Your doctor may prescribe an oral anti-fungal tablet like Lamisil or Sporanox to clear up your nails. These medications must be taken as prescribed and never discontinued without permission from your doctor. Your doctor might also recommend a topical ointment that can be applied directly to your nail. Visit with your doctor to determine which treatment is best for you.
