Purchase Survival Food Storage That's Organic

Survival food storage is not something that "out there" people do, while they wait for the world to end. It's a basic necessity for every family, and is as important as life insurance. However, if you build up an emergency food supply full of toxic, chemical-ridden and genetically-modified foods, you're only preparing to get (or remain) sick in a survival situation. Not so, if you build up an organic survival food storage. Here's how:

Things You'll Need

  • Bulk organic ingredients
  • 5 or 6 gallon food grade buckets

Instructions

    • 1

Make a list of foods that you eat on a regular basis in your notebook. Leave enough space to write down ingredients. Start with breakfast foods and work your way to dinner meals. Don't forget snacks as well.

    • 2

Write down a list of ingredients needed to prepare each meal. Include spices and cooking oils. For example, you may need to brown meat with extra virgin olive oil, but not use oil anywhere else in the ingredients. Stocking the little things in your emergency food supply will make a huge difference when you need it.

    • 3

Buy bulk organic ingredients for your survival food storage based on your ingredients list. Start with your local health foods store and the natural foods section in your local supermarket. Compare the prices there to buying canned food storage, freeze dried foods and dehydrated foods online.

    • 4

Check stores that specialize in selling survival food storage for organic foods. Buy bulk foods stored in #10 cans and 5 or 6 gallon food grade buckets. Buy empty food grade buckets from one of the stores if the cost of the food is too high, and oxygen absorber packets.

    • 5

Buy through a local food co-op. Organic foods can be purchased at cheaper shipping rates because of the group purchase. Compare prices, though, to make sure that you actually get a better deal this way.

    • 6

Gather all of your organic bulk ingredients from the sources in Step 3 and Step 4. Put them in food grade buckets with one oxygen absorber packet per bucket. This will remove moisture from the buckets, causing your survival food storage to last longer.

Tips & Warnings

  • It's tempting to buy cheap survival food storage items, but many contain food additives, processed ingredients and toxins that will work to destroy your immune system. Staying healthy in an emergency or survival situation is one of your key priorities, and bad foods won't help.
