How to Stop IE From Using a Proxy Method
A proxy server is a dedicated machine that funnels network traffic to the Internet. A proxy server is usually used in medium to large businesses. It helps the administrator manage Internet traffic on the network and filter unwanted websites. The settings for a machine's proxy server is set in the Web browser such as Internet Explorer. You can stop Internet Explorer from using a proxy server by removing the settings in the configuration window.

Double-click the Internet Explorer icon on the Windows desktop. This opens Internet Explorer. If the proxy server is not accessible, you will receive an error when the browser attempts to retrieve your homepage.

Click the "Tools" menu item and select "Internet Options." This opens the Internet Explorer configuration window.

Click the "Connections" tab. Within this tab, click the "LAN Settings" button to open the configurations for the local network. Within this window is the proxy server settings.

Clear the check box labeled "Use a proxy server for your LAN." This stops Internet Explorer from using a proxy server to access the Internet. Click the "Ok" button.

Click the "Home" icon on the Internet Explorer toolbar. The Web browser now accesses the Internet without using a proxy server.
