How to Use a Multi Gym Plan
As fitness centers become more popular, their rates and plans have become more flexible to benefit the consumer. Also, the competition between the main competitors, Bally Total Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, Gold's Gym and Town Sports International (Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., Sports Clubs), have forced the companies to allow members to workout at their different locations. These "Multi Gym Plans" are typically slightly more expensive than working out at a single location but can be very beneficial for those who move around a bit.

Be sure to have the correct plan when signing up with the gym. TSI, for example, has eight different membership plans that allow members to use different locations at certain times of the day. You have choices such as having access to only your home club at any time and then other clubs during off peak hours (for a fee), or unlimited use of any club in any of the four cities that TSI spans. Gold's and other gyms have similar programs available.

Decide where you want to need to go other than your home base. Determining how far you want to travel will help you decide on which company and plan you want to go with. TSI is much for regional, for example, where as Gold's Gym is worldwide but there are limits on how often you can work out at certain locations. Bally's is also a good option because there are no limits on frequency of working out (depending on the plan) anywhere in the country.

Use your membership to its full potential. The reason to have a Multi Gym Plan is to provide convenience if you travel a lot or work near a different branch of your home gym. Once you decide on which Multi Gym Plan is best suited to you, be sure to take advantage of that privilege, or you will be wasting your money!
