How to Make a Square Glass Pendant
Making your own jewelry can be a fun and easy craft to share with your children or a fun project just for you. Making a pendant is a relatively easy process when using simple materials such as square glass tiles. The glass tile provides a medium that can be plain and simple or affixed with a picture or your favorite graphic. Making these square glass pendants requires a few jewelry making supplies and, following a set of guidelines, can be accomplished in one day.

1
Use scissors or an Exacto-knife to cut your image or graphic that you wish to use for the pendant down to the size of the square glass tile. Cut the image or graphic at least 1 to 2mm smaller than the glass tile. If you don't wish to use an image move onto step six.

2
Use a paintbrush to seal your image by applying a light coat of PVA glue on top of the image. You can use a spray sealant if you prefer to seal the image. This will keep the image from bleeding any color or damaging the ink.

3
Apply a thin coat of PVA glue onto the glass tile. Place the image face down onto the tile and press down firmly in the center. Smooth the image flat, working from the center out to the edges of the tile to release any air bubbles from between the image and the tile.
-
4
Wipe off any excess glue from around the edges of the tile using a slightly damp cloth. Remove all excess glue.
-
5
Use a diamond glaze or glass resin to coat the back of the image and seal it to the tile. Only apply one coat and ensure that the sides are coated evenly. Wipe off any excess residue and allow it to dry for a couple of hours.
-
6
Place a small drop of quick-bonding craft glue (or E6000 glue) on the top center of the pendant and place the bail onto it and hold it in place until its sets. Allow it to dry for about a half hour.
-
7
Pull apart the jump ring with needle-nose pliers. Slide one end of the ring into the bail, then run the necklace or string through the open jump ring. Clamp the jump ring shut to finish the pendant.

Tips & Warnings
Glass tiles are available at many arts and craft stores and come in multiple sizes to suit your needs.
You can sand down any gobs or bumpy spots of glue using extremely fine-grain sandpaper after the glue has dried.
Avoid getting glue into your eyes and wash your hands free of glue while working with the pendant. A glue fingerprint can ruin the overall texture of the glass tile.
