      Examine the clothing or linen label of the stained item. Proceed unless the item's cleaning instructions read "Dry Clean Only."

      Mix a solution with equal parts white vinegar and water (lemon juice can replace the vinegar). Pour the solution on the stain and allow the fabric or carpet to soak for up to an hour.
