How to Make Tea Cups Out of White Chocolate

Regular and white chocolate can be used as modeling mediums to decorate cakes, desserts and candies. Cups of chocolate can be formed, decorated and used as edible dishes for desserts and cakes. Though it has been around for years, modeling chocolate gets a lot of on the Food TV network, and on shows such as Cake Boss and Ace of Cakes. Modeling chocolate can be made of white chocolate, dark chocolate, sweet and semi-sweet chocolate. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 14 oz. white chocolate
  • Knife
  • Microwave safe dish
  • Bowl
  • 1/3 cup light corn syrup
  • Plastic wrap
  • Greased parchment paper

Instructions

      Chop white chocolate into small pieces and place in a microwave safe dish. Heat the chocolate on high for 30 seconds. Stir. Heat again for an additional 30 seconds and stir again. Repeat until the chocolate is completely melted.

      Place 10 ounces of the melted white chocolate in a separate bowl. Add 1/3 cup of light corn syrup to the 10 ounces of chocolate and mix until it forms a claylike substance. Put the clay in plastic wrap and place it in the fridge. Let it harden for about an hour.

      Pour a small amount of the remaining chocolate onto parchment paper. Spread in a circle to make the saucer. Allow this to dry in the refrigerator until hard.

      Remove the hardened chocolate clay from the refrigerator. Cut off a piece of the clay and knead until soft. Mold the clay into a cup shape.

      Cut off another piece of the chocolate clay. Sculpt a handle for the cup.

      Glue the cup, handle and saucer together, once the saucer is dry, using some cool but melted white chocolate.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use food coloring to color the white chocolate, or paint on decorations. To color the chocolate add the food coloring after you have melted the chocolate. You can store any remaining chocolate clay in your refrigerator for several weeks.

  • Do not heat the chocolate for longer than 30 seconds at a time in the microwave. This could cause the chocolate to burn and catch fire.
