How to Connect 2 Computer Modems in Different Rooms
Connecting two computers with modems located in different rooms used to be a fairly difficult task, requiring endless lines of Ethernet cable strung out through the halls of your home. Fortunately, with the advent of wireless networking, this is no longer a problem. Setting up a simple wireless network will enable you to connect computers that have been positioned far apart from one another with minimum effort.

Install wireless network cards in both computers by following the installation instructions for the specific card(s) that you have purchased.

Plug your wireless router into the wall, and follow the initial setup instructions for your model by following the instructions listed in the operating manual for setting up a basic wireless network.

Connect to the network by right-clicking on the wireless network icon located on the bottom right-hand corner of your screen. This will appear to be a computer with radio waves projecting outwards or two connected computers.

Select the option to "View Available Wireless Networks." You will see the network that you created listed on-screen. Select that network, and press the "Connect" button. Enter the password created during the network setup if prompted.

Repeat the procedure on the other computer.

Reboot both computers to complete their connection to the network. You are now connected to the other computer through your wireless router.

Tips & Warnings
Access shared files on other computers on the network by opening the "Start" menu and then clicking "Network."
