How to Stop Browser Suggestions in Internet Explorer 8

Browser suggestions in Internet Explorer 8 involve the use of the AutoComplete Tool. The AutoComplete Tool stores a list of websites visited by an Internet user and then provides suggestions that are similar to previously stored website addresses. The AutoComplete Tool is helpful for saving user names, passwords, forms and web addresses. PC users who do not find the AutoComplete Tool helpful can easily disable this feature in Internet Explorer 8 by using the "Tools" drop-down menu.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your Internet Explorer 8 browser, click on the "Tools" button, and then select "Internet Options." The Internet Options dialog box opens.

    • 2

Select the "Content" tab, and then click on the "Settings" button located under the "AutoComplete" section. The AutoComplete Settings dialog box opens.

    • 3

Disable the AutoComplete Tool by unchecking the boxes for the different AutoComplete items such as "Address bar," "Browsing history," "Favorites" and "User names and passwords on forms," and then clicking the "Ok" button.

    • 4

Click on the "Delete AutoComplete History" button in the AutoComplete Settings dialog box to delete your AutoComplete history.
