How to Draw Scrapbook Pages
Planning scrapbook pages is a fun way to determine how to display photographs. Drawing the plan on paper allows one to have a rough idea of what the layout will look like when the page is completed. Doing so allows for changes to be made before items are adhered to a page. The drawing does not have to be precise.
Keeping a notebook and pencil handy will make scrapbook page planning easier. Anytime an idea presents itself, open the notebook and draw it out. Feel free to make notes on sizes and other details next to a drawing.

1
Think about what the page should look like. Ask questions about what the finished page should include. Determine how many photographs will be used on the page, for instance. Note the desired scrapbook pages size at the top of the notebook page.
-
2
Take out the notebook and pencil and begin a rough draft of what the page will look like. Consider what the border will look like and its dimensions. Draw this on the page. Add measurements if desired.

3
Decide whether or not the photos will be cropped. Determine photo sizes and decide how they will be placed on the page, with or without photo mats or frames. Draw these out in the desired areas on the page. Draw any layered mats as well.
-
4
Draw out any journaling card or area in the desired location. Add more if needed, and make a small note about what will be journaled if known. Keep in mind that these cards can be layered for a different effect. Draw this out if it is desired.
-
5
Look through the embellishments on hand and decide what might go with the page being planned. Decide what might work for the desired effect. Ribbon? Charms? Use whatever will convey the mood or theme that is desired on the given page. Determine whether more than one type of embellishment will be used, and add all of the elements to the planning page where they will work best.
-
6
Decide what other elements may be used for the page, and draw representations of these on the page planner. Using 3-D adhesive will add a nice effect to a few of the embellishments. Adding a sewing effect can add a different element. Embossing will look nice on many pages. Adding glitter or confetti to a page will give a decorative touch to the finished page. Draw all of these elements out on the planning page.
