How to Get GED Student Workbooks

An alternative to the high school diploma is the General Educational Development (GED). The best way to pass the two-part test is to prepare for it. If you don't have time to take the prep courses, you can obtain GED workbooks that cover all the subjects (math, language arts, reading, science, writing and social studies) and study independently.

Contact a local continuing education agency. Go to the American Council on Education site at acenet.edu/resources/GED/center_locator.cfm and type in your zipcode. You will be directed to the local schools and adult education centers in your region. Using the contact information, call your local agency and speak to the director of continuing education to find out what workbooks you will need, and how to go about procuring them. If the agency has a website, most times all the information about GED test prep materials will be provided.

Purchase the books online. Go to Amazon.com and type in GED Workbooks and you'll find a selection of test prep books and study guides by major publishers, such as McGraw-Hill, along with descriptions of what is inside and reviews. If you choose to purchase the books online, you will need to fill out a quick form to register with Amazon and include either a Paypal debit card or a credit card.

Go to your library. If you are not able to purchase the workbooks, you can always find most of what you will need at your local library. You can identify particular ISBN numbers and titles from amazon.com, or go to the reference desk and inquire about GED workbooks. These workbooks are popular and might be out on loan., but they can often be ordered from surrounding libraries within a few days.

Go to the bookstore. Your local bookstore will have all the workbooks you need to study for the GED. If they don't have a particular one you're seeking, the sales associate can order it from another bookstore, or from the publisher. It could take up to a week to get.

Purchase workbooks directly from the publisher. For example, by going to Houghton Miffllin Harcourt website at schoolsupply.hmhco.com/en/schoolsupply.htm and clicking on GED prep, you can peruse the most comprehensive GED workbooks available. You will need to register and set up an account, and then you can place an order. As long as the workbook is in stock, it can take three to five days to receive them. By going directly to the publisher, you can ensure that you will find what you are seeking and, if it's in stock, get it within a few days.

Tips & Warnings
