How to Delete a Search Page

Deleting search pages is a matter of keeping your Internet browsing private. There are some searches on your home computer that you may want to keep to yourself. In addition, when working from a friend's computer, it is polite to remove your searches so they maintain their favorite searches on their browser. Because there are numerous Web browsers you may use, you will have to delete all your searches on all of them to properly remove past searches.

      If you are using Firefox, locate the "Tools" button on your tool bar on the top of the computer screen. You should see eight categories: "File," "Edit," "View," "History," "Bookmarks," "Tools," "Windows" and "Help." Click "Tools."

      Click "Clear Private Data." A screen will appear that will give you the option to add a check mark to what your want to clear off your computer, such as "Browsing History," "Saved Forms," "Search History," "Cache," "Cookies," "Offline Webdata," "Saved Passwords" and "Authenticated Sessions."

      Check "Search History" to clear the searches you've made on the computer. Also, Check "Passwords" if you do not want someone accessing your private information. You should avoid saving passwords on your laptop, because if it were stolen, anyone would have access to your accounts.

      Mark "Cookies." "Cookies" saves your searches on your computer and can be used by online retailers to determine what you like to buy or look at online.

      Click "Delete Private Data Now" to remove all of your personal searches. Routinely delete your private data every time you search online so it becomes habitual.

      Select "Tools" on the top of your computer screen. A screen will appear that will give your "Internet Options" and an option to click.

      Click "Internet Options." Open the tab labeled "General." Locate the "Browsing History" in "General." Click "Browsing History" and the "Delete" button.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid identity theft by using only your home computer, office computer or a friend's computer when typing in credit card information. You may accidentally save information on public computers.

  • Refrain from disabling cookies, because certain websites will not properly load when cookies have been disabled.
