Use the blank sheet of paper and pen to brain storm ideas for the content of the note. Consider making a reference to the relationship, a significant shared experience, or comment about the sacrifice/dedication required to accomplish the goal. The focus should remain on the recipient and recognizing the significance of the occasion. Referencing a fitting quote may also be appropriate.

Review the brainstorm, and eliminate ideas until the essence of the note remains. Use the blank sheet of paper and pen to re-write the note exactly as it will be written on the stationary paper. Be sure to use a natural/conversational tone, and then check the spelling and the contact information to make sure that everything is correct.
