How to Remove Scotch Tape Marks
Scotch tape is used to secure a variety of things to many surfaces. The time may come when the Scotch tape has to be removed from the surface. The Scotch tape marks are actually a combination of the adhesive residue and dirt or particles that have settled on the residue. Things You'll Need
- Hair dryer
- Soap
- Towel
- Dirt erasing sponge
- Petroleum jelly
- Rubbing alcohol

Peel the Scotch tape up. The tape may break or you may have some tape that is left after you peel it up. That is normal.

Scratch any remaining Scotch tape using your finger nail. Remove as much as possible to make it easier to remove.

Heat the residue with a hair dryer to soften it. Wipe it up while it is still warm with a hot, wet towel.

Clean the remaining residue using hot soapy water and a towel. You may have to scrub hard to get the remaining residue off the surface. If some residue remains, continue to the next step.

Remove the residue using a dirt erasing sponge. Wet the sponge slightly. This may not work if the Scotch tape has been on the surface for an extended period of time.

Apply petroleum jelly to the residue. Allow it to set on the residue for at least an hour. Scrub it off using a scratch free pad.

Rub the residue that remains from the Scotch tape with rubbing alcohol. This should remove the remaining residue. Be sure that the surface the tape is on can withstand rubbing alcohol.
