How to Fold a Handkerchief for a Man's Suit
The tradition of a folded handkerchief in a suit's breast pocket started in the 19th century and quickly gained popularity. Handkerchiefs were first put in the breast pocket because it is generally the cleanest pocket on a suit. Once the handkerchief was used for blowing the nose or wiping off sweat, it was moved to a pant pocket. Today, the handkerchief is typically used for aesthetic purposes. Lay the handkerchief out flat so it is in its original square shape.

Fold the handkerchief in half to make a rectangle shape. Fold it in half again to make a smaller square. The new square is ¼ the size of the original square.

Position the handkerchief so one of the corners points toward your body. Fold this corner up so it meets the corner on the opposite side. The handkerchief should now have a triangular shape.

Leave the handkerchief in the current position. There should be a point at the left, a point at the top and a point at the right. Grab the point at the right and fold it over 2/3 of the way to the point on the left.

Grab the left point and tuck it into the fold of the right point.

Place the handkerchief in your pocket with the top point facing up.
