How to File an Electronic Insurance Claim
Many insurance companies provide their customers with the ability to file their claims online without the hassle and delay of filing through the mail. The electronic filing option provides an excellent alternative to paper filing. It also is a way to get the claim process rolling quickly. The sooner your claim is received by the insurance company, the sooner you can get a settlement.

1
Gather all of the information you will need to substantiate your claim. If you have photographs of the damage be sure to gather them before you begin filing your claim. Your insurance company should provide the ability to attach photographs and other documentation to your claim. Pictures of your car or property prior to the damage can be very helpful as well.

2
Scan all of the repair estimates you have received from body shops or contractors. When you file a claim electronically it is very important to include all of the information the insurance company will need to process your claim and make a damage assessment. If the claim is incomplete, processing could be delayed significantly. If you do not have a scanner, you can use your digital camera to take pictures of each estimate. Make sure the image is clear and that the claims adjuster will be able to read the estimate and the name of the firm.

Contact your insurance representative to determine how to file the claim. In most cases you will be able to simply log on to the insurance company's website and file a claim, but you will first need to establish an online account. If you already access your account online to pay premiums, you can use that account to file a claim as well.

4
Make sure that all of the necessary information has been uploaded before you file your claim online. Pay special attention to the procedures for uploading photographs and documents, and be sure to make sure that all of your documents are uploaded successfully. It may take some time to upload all of your documents, especially if you have multiple photographs and other pieces of documentation.
