How to Delete an Explorer Autocomplete List

Internet Explorer saves the information that you type into forms and password fields. Deleting this information is a great way to protect your privacy and save space on your computer's hard drive.

      Open the Start menu on your computer and go to "Control Panel."

      From the Control Panel, select "Network and Internet." If you do not see this option, look to the left and click on the words "Control Panel Home" and try this step again.

      Click "Safety." Next, click "Delete Browsing History," which will give you options of what you want to delete.

      Select to delete "Form Data" and "Passwords." Check the box next to "Preserve Favorites Website Data" only if you do not want to delete passwords and lists from websites that are saved in your Favorites folder.

      Click "Delete." You can now close "Control Panel" and any other open windows that you do not wish to use.

Tips & Warnings

  • "Network and Internet" will not be listed under the "Classic View" option in the control panel. Click "Control Panel Home" if you do not see "Network and Internet" listed as an option.
