How to Add Mac Memory Sticks
Adding memory to a computer increases its ability to run more programs and work faster, and Macintoshs are no different than Windows-based computers when it comes to this. Unlike a PC, however, it is not difficult or time-consuming to add Mac-based memory sticks to one of Apple's computers. Adding memory sticks to a Mac can be done by the owner and does not void the warranty.

1
Put the soft cloth down on a table. Disconnect all cables from the iMac. Grasp the iMac from each side and put it face down on the soft cloth.
-
2
Push the metal base away from you till it stops. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the small screw from the center of the memory access door, which looks like a small rectangular grill at the bottom rim of the iMac.

3
Remove the memory access door and put it aside. Unlock the tab in the memory compartment that is now revealed by giving it a gentle pull. If there is a memory stick in the memory slot that is to be replaced, rather than adding a memory stick to an empty memory slot, grasp the memory stick from each end and pull it straight out of the memory compartment.

4
Insert a memory stick in either the memory slot to replace a memory stick, or in an empty memory slot by pushing it straight in until it clicks into place. This will also push in the tab that is located in the memory slot.

5
Screw the memory access door back into place on the bottom of the iMac. Pull the metal base back toward you. Pick up the iMac from both ends and restore it to where it was. Reattach all of the cords.
