How to Draw an Electric Hoist

Thanks to modern technological ingenuity, backbreaking lifting of heavy objects can be done with relative ease with an electric hoist. Now practically a standard of industry, the hoists are a godsend to assembly lines where the heavy objects need to be lifted quickly. When drawing an electric hoist, it pays to keep an eye on detail in order to create a reasonable rendition of the subject matter.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a rectangle in the center of your paper, sized according to how large or small you want your art to be. Use the ruler to create straighter lines if desired. Erase the points on the rectangle and redraw smooth upward and downward contours to create a cylindrical shape that serves as the main body of the hoist.

    • 2

Draw a square in the middle of the cylinder that juts slightly above and below the border of the cylinders. This is the main compartment where the cinch is coiled. Erase any overlapping lines and draw a small rectangle (about half the size of the square) inside the bottom of the rectangle. Draw in several vertical lines inside this square to signify the coils of the hoist's cable.

    • 3

Add another square on top of the large square, then two circles above it to make the hoist's wheels that serve as an attachment point for a steel girder or cable. Draw two vertical lines coming down from the bottom of the big square to create the lifting cables.

    • 4

Add a circle between the bottom points of the lines that connect the lines together. Draw a hook shape on the bottom of the circle to complete the hoist. Look over your drawing and erase any errant lines you may have made, then, if desired, trace the hoist in black ink to make the art stand out on the page.
