How to Convert a Floppy to an ISO File

As floppy disks (and their drives) become obsolete, it's in your best interest to copy your old floppies to CD or DVD. If you're copying a large number of floppy disks, the free program "Folder2Iso" can quickly create a complete .iso image file of the original floppy disk's content, which will allow shorter burning time per CD.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit the download page for Folder2Iso (see "Resources" below for a direct link).

    • 2

After the site's 60-second wait period is over, click "Download Now" to save the file "folder2iso.exe" to your desktop.

    • 3

Insert the floppy disk into your computer's floppy drive.

    • 4

Double-click the "folder2iso.exe" icon on your desktop to run the program. Note: Folder2Iso doesn't require installation.

    • 5

Once the main window for Folder2Iso opens, click on "Select Folder."

    • 6

Select the floppy drive labeled "A:\" and click "OK."

    • 7

      Click "Select Output."

    • 8

      Select "Desktop" and click "OK."

    • 9

      Click "Generate Iso."
