How to Send an SMS Text From a BlackBerry Curve

Short message service (SMS) is a communication format commonly referred to as text messaging. With SMS messaging, you can send text-based messages to other devices that are compatible with the SMS format. The BlackBerry Curve is a smartphone with several different messaging options, including email, multimedia messages and SMS. In order to use SMS on your BlackBerry Curve, you need to have the SMS option included in your service plan.

      Open the "Messages" application on the home screen of your BlackBerry Curve and press the "Menu" button to bring up a list of messaging options.

      Choose "Compose SMS" to bring up your address book. Your address book includes all of the contacts stored to your phone.

      Select the contact to whom you want to send the SMS message, or choose "Use Once" and enter the telephone number.

      Type in your message using the full keyboard on the BlackBerry Curve.

      Press the trackball and choose "Send." The message will be sent to your contact, and a copy of the message will be saved to the "Sent" folder on your phone.
