How to Steam-Clean the Grout in Granite
Granite is one of the strongest materials to use for countertops, flooring and other areas of your home. Between pieces of granite is grout, which is often difficult to clean even with commercial grout and tile cleaning products. However, if you steam-clean the grout around your granite, the high pressure of steam will loosen the dirt and grime that the cleaners are unable to dissolve. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Fill your steamer's water tank with water according to manufacturer directions. Do not mix in cleaning products. The unit should be unplugged.
-
2
Connect the wand attachment with the thinnest opening where the steam comes out. This way, the steam is more concentrated and will work well to go along the grout line.

3
Plug your steamer in and use a hold the wand about 1 to 3 inches away from the grout line between the granite or tile pieces; move it closer as needed to get the grout clean. However, always follow the steam cleaner's manufacturer recommendations for cleaning grout. Test in an inconspicuous spot first to be sure you do not damage the grout and/or granite finish.
-
4
Follow along the grout line slowly with the unit on. As you go along, stop the steamer and wipe up with a clean rag what you just cleaned before the dirt and grime dries and sticks back onto the granite tiles and/or grout.
