One common problem XM Radio subscribers face involves not getting all of the 170 satellite radio channels for which they paid. If you experience that, it likely means you haven't properly activated your XM receiver and need to reactivate it. Fortunately, the solution lies only a few keystrokes away. You can fix your XM radio online and restore the full complement of channels offered by XM.
Things You'll Need
- XM radio receiver
- Pencil and paper
- Computer with Internet access
Make sure your XM receiver has a power source and all connections are good. Turn to channel 1 for an audio signal to verify your receiver is properly installed and receiving a satellite signal.
Press the channel buttons on the receiver until you reach channel 0 where you will find your XM Radio ID number displayed. Write the number on a piece of paper for later use. Keep your XM receiver on.
Go to your computer, open the Internet browser and navigate to http://activate.xmradio.com. Select the link that says "Activate your radio now." Follow the prompts and, when asked, type in the Radio ID number. Click the "Activate" button on the website.
Expect to wait between 10 and 15 minutes for your receiver to activate. Check to see if your missing channels have returned after that amount of time.
Tips & Warnings
- If the activation process does not take care of your problem with an incomplete channel lineup, call XM at 1-800-967-2346.
