How to Build a Multi-Level Marketing Business

How to Build a Multi-Level Marketing Business thumbnail
MLM is recommending a product to friends and acquaintances.

You may think multi-level marketing is not for you, that you are not a "salesman." However, you are a salesman all the time, telling your friends about a good movie you saw or a nice restaurant you visited or recommending a book you found fascinating. That is what you do in multi-level marketing with one important distinction — you get paid. Once you embrace the idea that you can sell the products you love, you are well on your way to building a good multi-level marketing business.

Instructions

    • 1

Treat it like a business. If you only invested $40 to become involved, you may tend to take your involvement casually; however, you need to treat it like you invested $1 million. Give it the time and attention you would any other job. Even if you are doing it as a part-time home-based business, you still need to devote attention. Keep good bookkeeping records, just as you would for a retail establishment.

    • 2

Dress to impress. Dress like a professional whenever you are representing your business. A successful business person will always look the part. Pay attention to details such as cleanliness, good grooming, and neatly-pressed clothes. Get a manicure, haircut or anything else you need to make a good impression.

    • 3

Always be ready. Make sure you have product or business information available at all times. You never know who you might run into. Have business cards made and always within reach to give prospective clients.

    • 4

Put together a contact list. To begin your business, you need customers or clients. Make a list of everyone you know, no matter what their level of interest might be in your new venture. The more names on your list, the more successful your business. Once you have the names, include contact information, then begin making calls.

    • 5

Know your presentation. Understand your products and/or business. You will need to "sell" your business to your contacts so the better your understanding, the better your presentations will be.

    • 6

Be committed. Set goals and priorities and commit yourself to keeping them. When you make appointments, be on time and never cancel. Push yourself to excel. Attend all company-sponsored training and team meetings.

    • 7

Help your downline. When you enroll or sponsor others, commit to helping and training them. You should be the most productive person on your team. It is in your interest to help them because as you help build their business, you are also building your own.
