Avoid taking Tylenol immediately after your eye starts to swell. Tylenol has been known to thin your blood which will prevent your blood veins from clotting as fast allowing more time for blood to flow into your skin.

2
Apply a cold ice pack to your eye. This will help slow the blood flow down and reduce the amount of blood that fills your skin - causing the black eye - from the broken blood vessels. Press the cold ice pack against your eye as soon as possible. Do this on and off for the next couple days to reduce swelling and the "black appearance".

Sleep with your head elevated on a couple pillows. Preventing excess blood flow to your eye will also help reduce the amount of blood that spills into your skin via the broken blood vessels.

After a few days have passed and your blood vessels have had time to heal, gently massage the black area around your eye with a warm wash cloth. By gently massaging the skin, you are helping your body flush out and remove the dried blood under your skin by promoting healthy circulation.
