1
Familiarize yourself with your insurance company's policy if you have not already. Read over your current policy and coverage stipulations. If you have any questions, contact your insurance provider or a private legal counsel.
-
2
Formulate your appeal. The easiest appeals to win are when an error was made in your favor. However, this is most often not the case. Outside factors beyond your control can often be taken into consideration in the appeals process.

3
Call your insurance company and inquire about their appeal process. Although most insurance companies just require a letter stating your reason for appeal, each company's appeal process varies slightly.
-
4
Write your appeal. Your appeal should be typed in the proper format stating the reason (s) you believe your claim should be accepted. Include bills, letters, and any other documents that support your claim. Make sure to specify that you are appealing an already denied claim. Include your policy number and a photo copy of your denied claim as well.

5
Follow up with your appeal process. After a few weeks, call your insurance company and inquire about the status of your appeal. Ask to speak with someone in the appeals department. In the following weeks, make sure to stay in contact with this same representative. Keeping the pressure on them will add a degree of accountability and can help get your appeal processed faster.
