How to Remove the Rear Motor Mount in a Prelude

The rear motor mount of a Honda Prelude can be found at the bottom rear of the engine on the support beam that is just before the transmission. The rear motor mount keeps the car's engine from moving and keeps it secured to the frame of the Prelude. The removal process is simple. It should only take you about 30 minutes to remove the mount from the engine and the frame of the Honda Prelude.

Instructions

    • 1

Park the Honda Prelude on flat, level ground in a well-lit area with plenty of room to work on both sides. Put on safety glasses. Raise the front end of the car off the ground using the jack. Rest the car on the jack stands. This should allow access under the car to the bottom of the engine.

    • 2

Place the jack under the center of the engine. Raise the jack up to the engine's oil pan and lift the engine enough to take the engine's weight off the rear motor mount.

    • 3

Loosen the securing bolt from the rear motor mount using the ratchet set and pliers. The rear motor mount will be in the middle of the support beam running across the width of the engine from left to right. The rear motor mount is the rubber piece that is between the engine and the support beam.

    • 4

Pull the securing bolt out of the fitting and set the bolt aside in a safe place. Pull the motor mount and washers from the fitting.
