How to Clean the Inside of a Private Charter Jet

The type of cleaning that private jets require will be determined by the request of the customer. The most popular types of cleaning are either a quick turn or detail cleaning. A quick-turn cleaning of a jet should take no more than an hour while the aircraft is parked and waiting for passengers. A detail cleaning includes everything in a quick turn plus more services. It can take several hours, depending on the specific requests of the customer and the size of the aircraft.

Instructions

  1. Quick Turn Cleaning

    • 1

Wipe the stairs and hand rails on the entrance door with a damp cotton towel. Dry immediately with another cotton towel.

    • 2

Wipe doorway panels with a clean, dry cotton towel to remove dust particles and any markings. If necessary, use a damp towel to remove any stains and dry immediately with a clean towel.

    • 3

Remove all trash in the galley and clean the top of the counter with a disinfectant spray.

    • 4

Clean the cooking equipment, such as coffee pots and microwave ovens, by spraying them with water and wiping with a clean cotton towel.

    • 5

Clean the lavatory counters and the exterior of the toilet with disinfectant spray. Clean mirrors and any glass fixtures, such as picture frames, with glass cleaner.

    • 6

Clean the walls of the aircraft's interior with a dry towel to remove dust and easily removed markings.

    • 7

Gather trash in a plastic bag and set it outside the aircraft.

    • 8

Vacuum the seats and carpet. When vacuuming leather seats, be certain the attachment to the hose is clean and smooth to avoid scratches and tears.

    • 9

Lay the seat belts on the seats so the buckles cross over each other.

    • 10

Clean the cockpit by using a clean dry towel on the instrument panel. Avoid touching any switches. Instruments with glass faces can be dusted with a dry towel.

    Detail Cleaning

    • 11

Complete all steps in a quick-turn cleaning.

    • 12

Use a wood cleaner and polish to clean any wood finishes, such as panels and tables.

    • 13

Use leather cleaner or upholstery cleaner on the seats, following the directions of the product.

    • 14

Clean the inside of all windows using a cleanser that is safe for the material used, typically glass or a form of plastic. Ask the pilot or aircraft owner what type of windows are on the aircraft.

    • 15

Clean all of the seat pockets and any storage compartments in the cabin with a damp rag followed immediately with a dry towel.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ask the pilot if there are any special types of wood or other material that requires a specific type of cleaning product.

  • Create a checklist that can be given to the customer after cleaning. This will prevent you from overlooking anything.

  • Avoid using too much water since it can mix with fire-retardant salts that are used in many aircrafts.

  • Avoid using any disinfecting or deodorizing agents that contain flammable compressed gas.

  • Avoid premixed commercial solvents not specifically labeled as being for aviation use.

  • All products should be approved for use in aircraft.
