How to Recreate Taylor Momsen's Seventeen Magazine Cover Eye Look

Actress Taylor Momsen wears a smokey, dark metallic eye in the February 2010 issue of Seventeen magazine. If you watch "Gossip Girl," the hit show she stars in, the alternative makeup she wears in the magazine won't shock you. Charcoal gray, black, and pewter come together to create a rocker-inspired, tough-girl eye look. Any skin color can pull off this look as well as any eye and hair color. Wearing the hair down and slightly messy will flatter the makeup well. You can wear any color clothing with this make-up and it will look flattering. A rocker-inspired wardrobe and accessories like a leather jacket and dark jeans would compliment this look well.

Things You'll Need

• Eye primer
• Charcoal gray eyeshadow
• Shadow brush
• Metallic pewter eyeshadow
• Blending brush
• Black eyeliner
• Black mascara
• Brown mascara

Instructions

1. Pat eye primer onto your eyelids with your fingers. Eye primer comes in a cream or gel form. It prevents the creasing and cracking of eyeshadow during wear.

2. Sweep a charcoal gray eyeshadow onto your eyelid with a shadow brush. Only cover the eyelid, not the crease.

3. Cover the charcoal gray eyeshadow with a metallic pewter eyeshadow. Use a shadow brush to do this, and make sure to pull the color into the crease using light strokes with the brush.

4. Use a blending brush to soften the charcoal into the pewter. Brush from the outer corner of the eyelid inward to do this.

5. Apply black eyeliner to the upper and lower lash lines.

6. Apply black mascara to the upper lash line only. Wiggle the lash comb at the root of the eyelashes and continue as you comb your way up to the ends. Doing this will prevent eyelash clumping and slightly elongate your eyelashes.

Tips & Warnings

• For a more vibrant look, add pink blush, it will brighten up your face.
