How to Make a Spring Airsoft Gun Shoot Harder

Airsoft guns are made of plastic or metal and fire small plastic projectiles referred to as BBs. The guns are often replications of modern, historical or antique firearms. The plastic BBs are propelled from the barrel of the gun by green gas, compressed carbon dioxide (CO2) or a compressed spring. Increasing the power of a spring airsoft gun involves time, patience and basic hand tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Unload the airsoft gun, make sure the spring is not compressed for shooting and remove any clips or magazines.

    • 2

Locate the screws holding the two halves of the airsoft gun together. There may be only one or possibly more.

    • 3

Use a screwdriver to remove the screws. Place the screws in a small dish or cup so they will not be lost.

    • 4

Remove the spring from the spring retention assembly. Gently pull on each end of the spring to create more distance between the coils.

    • 5

Apply a small amount of silicone spray lubricant to the spring and reassemble the spring mechanism and both halves of the gun.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use only 100 percent pure silicon spray lubricant to avoid damage from petroleum-based products.

  • Use all screws that were removed to reassemble the gun.

  • Avoid stripping the screw holes while reassembling the gun.

  • Make sure the gun is unloaded and the spring is not compressed for shooting when opening the gun.
