Computers can be connected to a variety of external monitors. LG is a company that produces LCD monitors and flat-panel televisions that can be connected to your PC. These monitors or televisions are especially desirable because of their DVI input. DVI was introduced in 1999 and has emerged as a standard digital display system that allows the display of high-definition content. Connecting your PC to an LG LCD display is not difficult if you have the right equipment.
Things You'll Need
- DVI cable
- VGA to DVI converter (optional)
- LG LCD display
Turn off your computer and LG LCD monitor before connecting any cables.
Determine whether your PC has a DVI output jack. Some newer PCs come equipped with this jack, but many do not. Typically, older PCs have a VGA output. If you have a VGA output, go to step 3. If you have a DVI output, skip to step 4.
Plug the VGA-to-DVI adapter into your PC's VGA output jack.
Connect the DVI cable from the computer into the LG LCD monitor's input jack.
Turn on your computer and LG monitor.
If you are using a laptop, select the LG LCD display as your monitor; if you are on a desktop, the monitor should automatically be recognized. To make this change on your laptop, right-click on the desktop and open "Properties." In the "Display Properties" menu, choose "Settings." Choose your external monitor, then click "Ok".
