How to Get Rid of Unwanted Advertising Icons After a New Computer Purchase

When you purchase a new computer, your new computer usually comes pre-installed with a variety of trial programs on it. Shortcuts to these trial programs are usually plastered on your computer's desktop. Other times, advertisements for programs are on your desktop as well, containing a shortcut to the product's home page where you can learn more about it and possibly purchase it. If you don't want these advertising icons cluttering up your desktop, you can easily get rid of unwanted advertising icons after a new computer purchase.

Instructions

1. Locate the advertising icon on your computer desktop that you want to get rid of and click on it.

2. Press the delete "Del" key to delete the unwanted advertising icon.

3. Click "OK" or "Yes" on the confirmation message that appears on your computer screen to confirm deletion of the unwanted advertising icon, at which time it will be sent to your recycle bin.

4. Repeat this process to get rid of each unwanted advertising icon.

Tips & Warnings

• Hold down the control "Ctrl" key and click on multiple icons to select. Then proceed to delete.

• Once you empty your recycle bin, the advertising icons will be permanently deleted from your computer system, so ensure that you really want to delete them before emptying your recycle bin.
