Empty old and used coffee from the pot and the brew basket filter. Rinse the pot and brew basket in cool water, removing any residue coffee.

Remove the coffee basket lid from the grinder. Remove the grinding basket.

Wash in hot soapy water or place in the top rack of the dishwasher. Allow the parts to air dry and then replace in the coffee maker.

Use a damp cloth to clean the warming element under the coffee pot and around the external parts of the coffee maker. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaners or scrubbers on the coffee machine. Do not immerse the coffee maker in water.

Add a coffee filter to the brew basket and pour a 1/4 cup of baking soda into the filter. Fill the water basin for a full pot of coffee. Place the coffee pot in the Cuisinart coffee maker and brew a full pot.

Let the hot baking soda solution sit in the coffee pot for 15 to 20 minutes, allowing the baking soda to self-clean the pot. Dump the solution down the drain and rinse the pot with water. Empty the brew basket of the filter and rinse the brew basket.

Replace all the parts and brew a pot of coffee and discard to cure the coffee machine.
