How to Cook Green Beans for a Baby

Green beans are a great source of nutrients such as vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K and manganese, all of which are beneficial for boosting the immune system and warding off common illnesses. It is just as important to incorporate green beans into a baby's diet as it is for an adult. Instead of buying prepackaged green bean baby food, consider cooking the green beans at home as an easy, cost-effective alternative.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill a cooking pot with one inch of water.

    • 2

Place the pot on a stove burner and turn the burner to high.

    • 3

Add one pound of fresh, whole green beans to the water when the water begins to boil. The water should not entirely cover the green beans. Allow green beans to cook in the boiling water, uncovered, for five minutes.

    • 4

Place the lid on top of the pot and allow the beans to cook for an additional ten minutes.

    • 5

Turn off the stove burner and remove the pot from the stove.

    • 6

Drain the water from the green beans.

    • 7

Place the green beans into a food processor and puree until smooth. Add one tablespoon of water, if needed, to make the puree smooth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not wash or cut the green beans before you are ready to cook them.
