How to Create Pendants With Memory Glass & Tape
Creating a personalized "Memory Glass" pendant is a great way to commemorate a personal or a special event. Think about them as small excerpts of a scrapbook that you can wear around your neck and take with you wherever you go. Memory Glass comes in different sizes, usually in the shape of squares or rectangles to make it easy to insert a small picture. To save money, pretty tape may be used instead of a frame to hold the pendant together.

1
Buy some squares of Memory Glass that don't come with the frames and some craft tape in the color that you want. Find these items in a craft store or the craft aisle at a department store. Another special item to pick up is an "Aanraku bail." You will be able to hang your pendant with the use of this special kind of bail because it has a flat piece that you will be able to glue to the back of the pendant. The top of the bail has a loop that you can put a cord or a chain through.

2
Note the exact dimensions of the Memory Glass, usually found on the package.

3
Scan a photo that you want to use and import it into your photo editing program on your computer. Use the cropping tool to cut out the part of the photo that you want to use and size it so that it has the same dimensions as the Memory Glass.
-
4
Print the image out onto a piece of matte finish photo paper. Cut the small picture out neatly around the edges.
-
5
Cut four pieces of craft tape that are the same lengths as the sides of the Memory Glass. Going longways along the edges, apply half of the tape to each side so that half is on the edge of the glass and the other half is sticking out from the side. Lay the Memory Glass down so that the sticky part of the tape is facing up.
-
6
Lay the small photo face-up on the piece of taped Memory Glass and line up the edges of the photo with the edges of the Memory Glass. Place another piece of Memory Glass on top of the image.
-
7
Fold each piece of tape over the edges, one at a time. Smooth out each piece of tape to eliminate pockets or loose spots around the edges.
-
8
Dab a thin layer of E6000 glue on the flat part of the aanraku bail and put it in the upper middle edge on the back of the pendant. Wait at least 24 hours for the glue to dry before you string a cord or a chain through the loop in the top of the bail.
