**Changing the fuel filter**
Change the fuel filter of your vehicle. It is important to have a unclogged fuel filter because the fuel filter's purpose is to protect the fuel system. When your fuel filter gets clogged, the limited gas flow could result in bad acceleration and decrease your engine's performance. Other problems could occur.

**Replace spark plugs**
Change spark plugs and replace spark plug wires. Having good beneficial spark plugs assist in igniting gas properly. Good spark plugs also helps to save on gas because it gives you better gas mileage.

**Make adjustments to the valves**
Replace your valve-cover gasket when you notice that oil is sitting on top of your engine. This is a sign of a leak.

**Have belts replaced and change oil**
Have your belts replaces if they are worn out. You will also want your oil changed.
Change your oil every 3,000 miles. However, if you have a newer vehicle you can wait a little longer than 3,000 miles to change the oil.
Draining your oil periodically is important because this prevents oil sludge build up and other vehicle problems that you want to avoid. -

**Replace air filter and service your car battery**
Get the air filter changed. Do so more frequently if you travel on dirt roads.
Service also your car battery. Add distilled water to your battery if needed.

Be sure that the cable ends of your battery are not corroded. Corroded terminals can prevent your car from starting.
