How to Wear a Flag Patch on an Army Uniform
Soldiers of the United States Army can represent the best and most devoted of American citizens. It makes sense, then, that these men and women should display America's flag with pride on their army uniforms. According to official Army Regulation 670-1, titled "Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms and Insignia," all soldiers serving the army must display the flag on their uniforms, regardless of their deployment and missions. At approximately two inches high and three inches long, these patches require proper placement to comply with Army regulations.

1
Wear the flag on all utility and organizational uniforms, on the right shoulder of the uniform. The flag is standard issue with your uniform; replacements can be purchased through army equipment suppliers, such as Army/Navy stores.
-
2
Place the flag ½-inch below the right shoulder seam of the uniform. If the soldier wears another type of shoulder sleeve insignia, place the flag 1/8-inch below the insignia.

3
Wear the flag so that the field of stars is at the top right of the patch, with the stripes moving away toward the left. According to Regulation 670-1, this creates the appearance of the flag blowing in the breeze when the soldier moves his or her arm.
