How to Take a Key FOB Apart for a Nissan Primera
Remote Key FOBs come standard with most late-model Nissan Primeras. These are remote keychains that can open the doors of your Primera or even start its engine with the push of a button. This is easy and convenient, but problems can arise if the key FOB becomes damaged or the battery dies. You can always order a replacement key FOB online or get a new one from your Nissan dealer, but it may be easier to take it apart yourself. And the only real challenge to taking apart the key FOB is removing the two halves of the key fob case.

1
Insert the tip of your screwdriver or plastic pry tool in the seam located just under the Nissan logo on the remote key FOB. A pry tool is a small thin piece of plastic, available for purchase at most electronics stores, that is used for opening electronic devices such as cell phones.
-
2
Work your way around all sides of the key FOB until the transmitter comes loose and the two sides come apart. Be careful not to apply too much force, as you do not want to damage the key FOB.

3
Separate the two halves of the key FOB and place them on a table. Locate the small silver battery in the middle of the interior of the back half of the key FOB.
-
4
Insert the tip of your screwdriver or pry tool just underneath the battery and remove it by gently popping it out of its compartment. Be careful not to damage any of the circuitry around the battery. Your Nissan Primera key FOB is now disassembled.

Tips & Warnings
If worried about damage to your key FOB, use the plastic pry tool to open it instead of the metal screwdriver.
