How to Clean Cache Files

The record of all Web activity on a computer's hard drive is stored in the cache. The files located in the cache take up space in a computer's hard drive. To free up space, clear the cache.

Instructions

Clearing the Cache for Internet Explorer

1. Open your browser and locate the "Tools" menu in the top toolbar. Left-click the "Tools" menu.

2. Scroll down the "Tools" menu and click Internet Options. The "Internet Options" box will open to the "General" tab.

3. On the "General" tab, click the "Delete Files" button located under the "Browsing History" section to delete all the files stored in your cache.

4. Click "OK" to clear cache, then click "OK" again to confirm.

Tips & Warnings

• This direction set is for Internet Explorer. Other browsers, however, use a similar process.
