How to Write a Thank You Note for a Good Job
Thank you notes symbolize your appreciation of another person's actions. Whether you write a note for someone who bought you flowers for your birthday or performed a special favor for you, a thank you note will undoubtedly show them just how grateful you are. A simple thank you note for a person who did a good job with something you asked them to do only takes a short amount of time, but can provide a great sense of pride in the person you compliment.

1
Find a nice piece of stationery paper or a thank you card on which to write your note. You can hand write or type the note, but a handwritten message indicates a more personalized touch.
-
2
Start out the note by addressing the person with a "Dear" heading, such as "Dear Aunt May." According to Leslie Harpold, people love to hear their own names and will automatically enjoy the beginning of the letter if you address them directly.

3
Speak to the person with warmness. Say things like "We have known each other for years, and you have always been such a good friend." Be sincere, though, in your approach, and don't say anything that exaggerates your relationship with the person.
-
4
Discuss the job that the person performed, and how well he did it. Talk about the importance of the task he did, and how much it meant to you that he completed the task so perfectly.
-
5
Offer the person a favor that you can give to him. Do not offer something that is beyond your abilities, but suggest something like: "If you ever need anything, I'll be there to help out." If you are the person's boss, say that you are impressed by their work ethic, and will be keeping your eyes on them for any future promotions; again, however, say this only if it is something you can and will do.
-
6
Refrain from talking about yourself and what is going on in your life. The thank you note is only about the person you are writing to, so make it all about them.
