How to Build a Limbo Game

Limbo is a fun game for all ages. Because of its exciting and simple design, this party favorite never goes out of fashion. Many stores, however, don't carry the equipment necessary to play this game, which can prove difficult for fans who would like to use it. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to build your own Limbo game from scratch. Not only will making your own be a fun creative, alternative to purchasing one from a store, but you probably will save a great deal of money in the process.

Instructions

    • 1

Buy a wooden dowel or flag stick from a local hardware store. When buying this stick, keep in mind that the participants in your game will need to hold it up on either end. A lightweight rod is easiest to handle and to store after the game is over. Also, the pole should not be too thick, or younger audiences may not be able to play safely with it. Look for a rod that is between 3 and 5 feet long, based on your taste.

    • 2

Cover the wooden rod by gluing on decorative paper. This can be done by cutting the paper into strips that will wrap around the circumference of the rod at least twice, and then gluing each piece on the rod. Since you are using paper, the variety of glue does not make much difference. After lining the rod with attractive paper, allow it to dry standing up for at least half an hour.

    • 3

Set up stereo system near where the game will be played, and direct participants to hold the pole at certain heights. Have the people holding the pole start higher and move the pole down periodically. You can decide whether the pole is lowered after every minute, every song or every player. Be sure to set up the sound system a safe distance from the pole so that if anyone falls, he will not hurt himself or the equipment.
