Things You'll Need
- Basic riding shirt pattern
- Interfacing
- Fabric
- Scissors
- Pins
- Notions, such as zippers, buttons and gems
- Sewing machine

Obtain a basic riding shirt pattern from an equine clothing specialty store such as jeanhardypatterns.com.

Trace the various pieces onto the interfacing and create your desired pattern design. For example, consider swirls created with two fabrics.

Label which parts of the pattern will be made with certain fabrics, and also label where each piece of the design is located.

Cut out the various parts of the created pattern and pin them onto their assigned fabrics. If using any cotton fabrics, make sure to preshrink them before cutting. Be sure to add an additional 1/4" around each fabric piece to allow for seams.

Pin each piece with the right sides of the fabric together.

Sew the pieces together and trim away any extra fabric along the seam lines.

Add on any decorations such as gems, buttons, or nails, and sew in the front zipper or button holes.
