How to Apply Rank on the US Army Class A Uniform

The strict regulations for dress code and display of awards, rank and other insignia in the United States Army can vary by uniform. Army Regulation 670-1, titled "Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms and Insignias," dictates these regulations. This document defines the class A uniform for men as the "Army green (AG) coat and trousers, a short- or long-sleeved AG shade 415 shirt" and for women as the "Army green coat and skirt or slacks, a short- or long-sleeved AG shade 415 shirt" and the AG maternity uniform when the woman wears a tunic. As with all uniforms, there are certain ways to display rank on these uniforms.

Instructions

1. Wear rank insignia on the right sleeve of the Class A uniform coat.

2. Center the rank insignia between the shoulder seam and elbow.

3. Sew the insignia neatly into place with thread that matches the patch, with no loose stitches or extra thread remaining.
