How to Make Vintage Snow With Chenille Pipe Cleaners
Add vintage style to your winter decor with snow decorations made from chenille pipe cleaners. Chenille pipe cleaners make for excellent vintage-style snowflakes, and you only need a couple of hours to prepare enough to decorate a snow-themed room. Since they're so easy to make, chenille pipe cleaner snowflakes are a great kid-friendly craft project. Next time you need some vintage-style snowy decorations, gather some chenille pipe cleaners and the kids and get to work.

Hold a chenille pipe cleaner in your left hand and twist a second pipe cleaner around its center to create a cross.

Adjust the spokes to create and "X"

Twist a third pipe cleaner around the center of the first two. Once it's secured in place, adjust the spokes to create a six-pointed star.

Cut six 2-inch lengths, six 1 1/2-inch lengths and six 1/2-inch lengths to use for the snowflake's "branches." Use a pair of old scissors for cutting through the wire pipe cleaners.

Twist a 2-inch length of pipe cleaner around each arm of the vintage snow decoration about halfway down each spoke.

Pull each branch's twist tight with a pair of needle nose pliers. Hold one side of the branch between your left thumb and forefinger, grip the other side with the needle nose pliers and tug to secure the twist in place.

Angle the secured branches so they point upward, away from the center twist.

Twist a 1 1/2 inch branch onto each spoke, just above the 2-inch branch. Follow the instruction above to secure each branch in place and properly angle it.

Add a 1/2 inch branch to each spoke, positioning it just above the 1 1/2 inch branch. Repeat the instructions above to secure it in place.

Tips & Warnings
If you want to make smaller chenille pipe cleaner snow decorations, make the snowflake spokes from shorter lengths of chenille and add fewer branches to each spoke.
