How to Open .Psd Files


.PSD is the file extension for Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop is the leading commercial art and image-editing program used by graphic designers, web designers and print shops. All files with the .PSD file extension are images. Default image editing software that ships with Windows can’t open or view .PSD files. IrfanView is a freeware application that can open and view .PSD files. IrfanView can save .PSD files in other common formats such as .jpg, .gif, and .png.

Things You'll Need

  • Web browser
  • IrfanView
  • .PSD file
  • Windows operating system
  • Open your web browser and navigate to

  • Click the download link on the left side navigation bar and save the IrfanView installation file to your computer.

  • Double-click the downloaded file to Install IrfanView. Accept the default options during the installation.

  • Double-click your .PSD file and it will open in IrfanView.
