1
Put on women's clothing and shoes. Try on a variety of different sizes and colors to find the types of outfits that fit your style. If you don't want to shell out a lot of money on new clothes before you have a chance to determine your own style, ask your girlfriends if they have some clothes they might lend you or allow you to keep permanently.

2
Apply your make-up. Match the make-up to your skin tone, hair color, and even to the outfit you plan on wearing. If you are stumped on make-up ideas, search the web for make-up application tips.

3
Put on breast forms to complete the appearance. These items are available from specialty retailers, and run from low end models that cost $20 to premium models that can cost upwards of $100 or more.

4
Work on your voice. You don't need to just work on the pitch of your voice--in fact, this is a common mistake for many first time queens. You also need to work on your timbre, word choice, even grammar.

Locate friendly organizations and possible venues for members of the drag community. Use the internet to source out local venues that have drag shows or get in touch with a local transgender community. This way, you will have support and friendly advice on which to rely.
